The current global economic crisis is so great that the extension of the negative effects of the crisis, as well as its duration, are difficult to be predicted, because they will be different from country to country. Also, there is no unique model of measures for overcoming these effects. While some countries have recorded the drop in economic activity, already in the third quarter of the year 2008, some are only now beginning to face themselves with that solution. Also, while some countries apply a restriction on spending, others are looking for ways to increase the demand. It is hard to find an adequate set of measures which could be copied.
Responding to the impact of financial crisis, developed countries have reacted by the programs to increase market liquidity and by the huge funds designated and destined to be "injected" in their economies. However, it seems that a common position is reached about the general approach, which consists in the fact that market insolvency, which is considered the main cause of reduction of demand, and consequently the production, can be cured only by additional funds that will be, through various channels and forms, made available to the economy. In this sense, is the recommendation that science and technology are put in the first "combat" lines in the fight against the crisis and to support the real sector in order to increase the innovative capacity and competitive ability of enterprises, especially micro, small and mediumsized ones.
Response to the negative impact of world's economic crisis, when the SEE countries are in question, should be searched, among others, in an accelerated development and application of science and technology in the real sector, in order to increase the innovative capacity and competitive ability of the economy. SEE countries can be internationally competitive and achieve strong economic growth if they are, above all, internationally competitive in the production of goods and distribution of knowledge. Scientific and research institutions, as key producers of knowledge and higher-education institutions as key distributors of it, use to become key factors of SEE development, and as such to lead other institutions toward the society of knowledge, what for example the EU wants to become as a society.
Small countries, with limited resources, can only build own prosperity on the development of the economy, which is based on the technology and innovation. They must not reduce their business frameworks to the narrow, regional perspectives, but they need to think globally. In the SEE the higher education, research and technological development, as a common set of activities, must become a national priority, with the ultimate goal of achieving standards in these areas, which are valid in the EU.

The Student Conference, TECHNO-EDUCA 2010 titled "Show your Competences for the Future Jobs", focuses on giving expert support to both type of businesses from the sector, large economic systems and the SMEs. It should help the managers in overcoming the phase of serious falling behind in technological and economic development which resulted through more than 15 years of absence of fast development within all metal processing technologies, trends and directions.

TECHNO-EDUCA 2010. will take place in the UNZE campus on 28.05.2010 and will consist of two segments:

Day 1 (Friday, 08/10/2010):

• Conference: Part I (presentations from 11,00-13,00 and 14:00-18:00 on 28.05.2010): Presentations of the papers written by students and teaching staff of the engineering and economic faculties from former Yugoslavia and EU region, which resulted from certain scientific, research and expert projects, as well as from seminar, graduate, master papers and thesis and other type of research which deal with modern technologies from the interest to production businesses (to be presented by posters, flip charts or oral presentations). The presentations could be done orally or with flip charts about which the authors will be informed later.

• Skill meeting and visits:
  Part II (09,00-10,00 h):
  Presentation of IPA project: The development innovation centres in Zenica, Banja Luka and Mostar (Reeding room of Metallurgy Institute of UNZE).
